FRENCH FRIES IN AIR FRYER

I know that this is quite a simple dish and there are umpteen number of recipes out there that show you how to make them๐Ÿ˜Š.

But here is my version of perfect, crunchy, oil-free French Fries full of pakka๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‰ Masala Flavor.

Crispy French Fries
Crispy French Fries๐Ÿ˜

INGREDIENTS:

  1. 2 Medium sized potatoes- washed and peeled(soak in water until ready to use)
  2. Salt to taste
  3. Chili Powder-2 tsp
  4. Black Pepper Powder- 1 tsp
  5. Herbs(Rosemary/Parsley/Oregano/Basil)- 1 tsp
  6. Ginger Garlic paste- 1 tsp
  7. Oil- 1 tsp for binding(optional)

METHOD:

  1. Cut the potatoes into fries/wedges.
  2. An important step here, is to wash the potatoes after they are cut, in cold water to dry them using paper towels/hand towel till all the moisture is absorbed.
  3. Once completely dry, put them into a mixing bowl and add all the other ingredients and mix until all the pieces are coated well.
  4. Brush the air  fryer with some oil to prevent the fries from sticking and preheat the air fryer at 400 F( 200°C) for 10 mins.
  5. Place the fries in the air fryer and fry for 20-25 mins, checking at the end of every 5 mins and shaking them so that they don't stick to the bottom and cook evenly.
  6. Once they are fried well, remove them onto a plate and serve them hot with ketchup by themselves or as a side with dal or sambar(South Indian Lentil Stew) and rice.

NOTE:

  1. Make sure you dry the fries before adding other ingredients to ensure they come out crisp.
  2. Addition of ginger-garlic paste releases water and makes the fries a little less crispy. Skip the ginger-garlic paste if you want crispy fries.
  3. Another tip is to add corn flour when adding ginger garlic paste as corn starch absorbs moisture and makes the fries crispier.๐Ÿ˜‰

Never think twice before making this dish now in the Air fryer.

Goes really well with dal, sambar and rasam.

Most importantly, this happens to be my thatha's(Grandpa's) favorite Potato recipe๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘ด
