MIRCHI BAJJIS IN AIR FRYER

Spicy Mirchi Bajjis are my favorite dish and go amazingly well with hot Chai especially on a rainy day, as most of you already know๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š!!!

Make this snack completely free of oil and simultaneously satisfy your cravings๐Ÿ˜‹

Pic of Air Fried Mirchi Bajjis
Yummy Yummy Mirchi Bajjis ๐Ÿ˜

INGREDIENTS:

 Bajji mirchis- 5 nos.

For the Batter:

  1. Gram flour/Besan- 3 cups
  2. Salt to taste
  3. Crushed carom seeds/Ajwain- 1/2 tsp
  4. Chili Powder- 1 tsp
  5. Black Pepper powder- 2 tsp

For the stuffing:

  1. Tamarind pulp(thick)- 1/2 cup
  2. Onions (finely chopped)- 1
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Roasted gram flour- 1 tbsp
  5. Amchur/dry mango powder-1/2 tsp

METHOD:

  1. Take a tbsp of gram flour and lightly roast it till it gives out an aroma and turns slightly brown. Do not leave it unattended as there is a danger of it burning quickly.
  2. Wash and wipe the chilies and slit them lengthwise but not touching either ends.
  3. Cut the chili into 2(easier to fry) and deseed them. Keep the seeds aside.
  4. For the stuffing, take a mixing bowl and mix in the chopped onions, tamarind, chili seeds and the roasted flour from step 1.
  5. Add in the salt and the amchur powder. Mix the stuffing well.
  6. Stuff the mirchis/chilies with the stuffing and keep aside.
  7. For the batter, mix all the ingredients mentioned under the "For the batter" sub heading.
  8. Add very little water just enough to create a thick paste .It should be thick enough to easily coat the mirchis.
  9. Coat the stuffed mirchis with this gram flour paste.
  10. Brush the air-fryer with some oil to prevent the bajjis from sticking and preheat the air fryer at 350 F(180ยฐ C) for 10 mins.
  11. Place the mirchis in the air-fryer and fry for 15-20 mins, checking every 5 mins and flipping them over.
  12. Once they are fried well, remove them onto a plate and serve hot with ketchup, or I like them as they are, since they incorporate a lot of flavor themselves and need no dip๐Ÿ˜Š.

NOTE:

  1. You can add boiled potato to the stuffing, which makes the filling delicious.๐Ÿ˜
  2. The batter should NOT be of pouring consistency like we use for deep frying.
  3. Wrap the bajjis in an aluminum foil and store them in the refrigerator in case of left overs. Microwave them without the foil for about 30 secs before consuming.
